Answering some FAQs

When should I book?
Generally, sessions should be booked 2-3 months in advance. Looking for an August beach photo shoot? Make sure to book it in May. Want the magical colors of Fall foliage? Call me August. While I sometimes have last minute slots available, booking early guarantees you’ll get the time and date that works best for you.
What happens at the pre shoot consultation?
The week of your photoshoot, I will reach out to have a phone consult. We will discuss exact timing and location, and any concerns you may have such as clothing suggestions or last minute changes.
How long does a photoshoot last?
Full sessions are typically an hour long. Mini sessions, are 20 minutes long. However there is no shot clock, so you can relax and rest assured that when you leave I will have a beautiful gallery.
Do I need to bring anything to the session?
Just your children dressed and ready to have fun. If there is a particular accessory you’d like photographed with your child, feel free to bring that along.
What is the best time of day for a photo shoot?
Outdoor sessions are typically scheduled 1-2 hours before sunset, depending on location. This lets us take advantage of the magical golden hour.
Indoor sessions are scheduled in my studio before noon. Since light can be controlled indoors, scheduling in the morning usually means happier, refreshed kids who can really enjoy the shoot.
I’m worried my kids will be cranky or difficult. Is there anything I can do?
As a parent, I’ve found the best you can do is prepare them beforehand so they know what to expect and try to make sure they’re not too hungry at photo time. After that, just sit back and let me do my thing. Please don’t bring treats or edible incentives. I have a stash of mess free- treats and prizes to give out that ensure happy kids, happy parents and nice clean photos.
Can I bring along a second outfit for my children as well?
If you would like, you can bring along one outfit change for your children. However, I’ve found using your time to do multiple outfits takes time away from getting more images, and makes it harder to choose coordinating wall art.
What clothing styles make for the best photo shoots? Does everyone need to match?
Solid neutral colored clothing come out best in photos. Stay away from stripes, polka dots and graphics, they will divert attention from the faces in your photographs.
Not everyone has to match, but it is a good idea to choose colors that coordinate well together.
If you are unsure about how to dress for your shoot, please let me know in our pre-shoot consultation. I am always happy to advise clients and help them choose the best outfits that will photograph well.
Do I need to pick a location?
Finding beautiful locations is a secret hobby if mine. I have a collection of so many beautiful settings that I’ve scouted. When you schedule your session I’ll send different location pictures for you to choose from, so you can pick the most magical location for you.
The photoshoot is over, what happens now?
As soon as your photoshoot is over, I go through all your images and prepare a gallery for you to view. An appointment to view your gallery and choose your photos is scheduled for 1-2 weeks after the shoot. During that appointment, I guide you on wall art options as well as various print and collage layouts.
Once you make your choices it can take up to 2-3 weeks to edit your images to perfection. As soon as my artwork is complete I will contact you to approve the images. Once approved, I will send them off to print. Depending on the medium it can take 2-5 weeks until wall art is ready for pickup.
Do you do Upsherin photos?
I adore working with upsherin boys and capturing the moment between baby and big boy. When booking upsherin sessions make sure to schedule the shoot at least 4-6 weeks before your son’s birthday.
This will ensure ample time to choose and print your photos before the big day.
Do you photograph babies?
I work with babies 6 months of age and up.
At this age most babies can support their heads and their personalities can really shine.
I have an outdoor photo shoot and the forecast says rain. What do I do?
Rainy days are a common occurrence, but no worries, I’m always checking the weather and hourly forecast to ensure your session has the best outcome. If your date shows showers, I will reschedule you for another day within that week.
What happens if I need to cancel?
All sessions require a $275 non refundable deposit. if for some reason you need to cancel your appointment, and cannot reschedule within that week, we can try to find you another date that will accommodate both of us.
Do you offer online galleries so I can choose remotely?
How much are additional digital images?
I charge $95 for each digital image. I designed my digital packages with bundled savings so you can enjoy more images without paying full price. Each purchase of wall art 16×20 or larger comes with that corresponding digital image.
